Spot mine? These kids were cute. Favourites (not mine): “SWAG MORE (but be prepared for swag to be over)”, “have sex with people who don’t remind me of my parents”, “remember that you hate roasted red peppers and everything bagels”. Bless.
2012
“To live variously cannot simply be a gift, endowed by an accident of birth; it has to be a continual effort, continually renewed” - Zadie Smith, Changing My Mind
Welcome to 2012, Brooklyn/Church St/2 train/Chambers St/Manhattan/world. I feel like I’m on top of you. Tonight I met/hugged/danced with a lot of strangers, kissed a cat, grinned so hard all the way “home” that my face hurt. Soon I’ll leave the country I’m visiting for the country I live in, then I’ll leave that country for another. Starting each year more variously than the last? A year of living variously? I guess we’ll see.
As a stranger on the subway said to me tonight: “I hope 2012 is the shit for you, because you deserve nothing less”.
